Barbara Dougan’s Candied Popcorn

Ingredients

  • 4 tbsp butter unsalted
  • ½ cup light brown sugar
  • 8 large Jet-puffed marshmallows
  • 2 bags microwave popcorn

Instructions

  1. Pop the popcorn and allow it to cool.
  2. Pour the popcorn into a large stainless steel mixing bowl.
  3. Line your counter with non-stick foil or parchment paper.
  4. Melt the butter, sugar and marshmallows in a sauce pan, stirring constantly to prevent boiling.
  5. Drizzle the melted mixture over the popcorn and toss gently and quickly, using a plastic spatula.
  6. Pour the popcorn onto the parchment paper and spread into an even layer. (I recommend wearing plastic gloves for this step).
  7. Allow the popcorn to cool before packing it into treat bags.

Recipe Notes

I use Orville Redenbachers Naturals Simply Salted Popcorn. If you use unsalted popcorn, be sure to use salted butter.
