Author Nichole Banducci

Ingredients

  • 1 cup warm water 110 degrees
  • 2.25 tsp active dry yeast one packet
  • 1 tsp sugar
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cups pizza sauce
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

For The Dough

  1. In a large bowl, use a standing mixer or spatula to combine the warm water, dry yeast, and sugar. Let stand for 10 minutes.
  2. Mix in the oil.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, and salt.
  4. Slowly add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until the dough is no longer sticky. (You may have a bit of the dry ingredients left over.)
  5. With your hands, knead the dough inside the bowl. Add flour as needed until the dough feels smooth and no longer sticky.
  6. Place the dough on a floured surface. Cut in half or quarters and roll out the dough to 1/4” thick.
  7. Use a cookie cutter to cut the dough into 3” circles.

For The Pizza Waffles

  1. Preheat the waffle maker.
  2. Place one circle of dough onto the heated waffle iron, top with 1 tbsp of shredded cheese, and place another dough circle on top.
  3. Close the lid of the waffle iron and press firmly for 15 seconds, cooking until golden brown.

Recipe Notes

Cooked pizza waffles can be stored in the fridge and reheated in the microwave or toaster oven for a quick and easy meal!
